08 The Team

The occupational safety team of Badische Stahlwerke fulfills the following functions as corporate department:

  • Head of the department: strategic development of occupational safety activities, central contact point for inquiries from authorities, investigation of severe accidents and HiPo incidents 
  • Prevention: test and selection of personal protective equipment, hazardous materials management, measurements (hazardous materials, noise, speed, lighting…), moderation and preparation of risk assessments, instruction of new employees and representatives of outside companies, curriculum for apprentices, training of visitors' guides
  • Administration: accident data base and statistics, Intranet, preparation of annual training schedules, central controlling of measures based on EVA training sessions
  • Occupational safety management: internal and external audits, updating of process descriptions and work instructions, instigator for necessary documentation of processes and procedures, approval of PPE
  • Gate: gate management, process owner outside companies and visitors management, housekeeping on works roads
  • Operative occupational safety: site inspections, evaluation of risk training sessions, specific training schedule, incident investigation, impulse for and assistance during implementation of new occupational safety measures, support/training/advancement of safety officers
